During the 1980’s he also began civil engineering projects with a local business. He subsequently sub-contracted to JJ Cavanagh Construction Ltd in Stoke on Trent prior to becoming a Site Manager for them for 10 years, where he managed a team working on civil engineering projects both locally and nationally.
JJ Cavanagh Construction Ltd went into liquidation in September 2011 during the economic depression and Nick formed N C Construction.
Originally from Winchcombe in Gloucestershire, Angela went to Rodbaston College where she achieved a N.C.F.S. (National Certificate for Farm Secretaries). She moved to Staffordshire in 1977 after her marriage to Nick and worked for several years as a secretary for New Tean Hall Mills in Tean prior to the birth of their children.

For 17 years Angela also worked at Cheadle Hospital as a clerical officer, only leaving this employment in May 2012 as the N C Construction workload increased.
